The Hotrod Honeys showed they are ready to go after a repeat Texas Rollergirls championship by winning the Rock-N-Round-Robin bout Sunday night.

The defending champions won their three mini-bouts without a loss. In their closest 15-minute contest, the Honeys defeated the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers 18-10. Rice Rocket would open up this bout with a 5-0 first jam, followed up by a 3-0 jam by Vicious van GoGo as the champs would take an 8-0 lead after two jams. Both teams would settle into a defensive mode as the third and fourth jams were scoreless. The Heartbreakers would strike back with Desi Cration scoring three points and Friction VixXxen scoring two points, while the team in gingham was shutting out the Hotrods, closing the score to 8-5.

The Honeys would shut out the Heartbreakers the next three jams while Rice Rocket added a two-point jam and Lucille Brawl would add four more points in the ninth jam as the defending champs took a 14-5 lead. Desi Cration would counter back with a five-point jam to narrow the lead back to 14-10, but Rice Rocket would finish this defensive struggle out with a four-point jam as the Hotrod Honeys completed the 18-10 win.

In the opening mini-bout of the night, the Hotrod Honeys beat last year’s runner ups, the Hell Marys, 51-4. In the fifth mini-bout of the evening the Honeys defeated the Hustlers 45-4. The leading scorer for the Honeys in the three periods of action were Rice Rocket with 32 points, in only two bouts where she jammed. Morphine chipped in 29 points, all scored against the Hell Marys. Vicious van GoGo scored 28 total points, and Lucille Brawl added 20 points. All individual scoring is unofficial. Top blockers for the team in black and pink included Crackerjack, Cat Tastrophe, Shank, and RadioActive.

The Honky Tonk Heartbreakers won two mini-bouts to take second place in the Rock-N-Round-Robin Sunday night in Austin. They picked up a tough 19-12 win over the Hustlers in the second 15-minute mini-bout of the night. The defensive struggle would open up with the first two periods being scoreless. But in the third jam, Heartbreakers captain Mary Lou Threaten would score a 7-0 jam to give last year’s third place team a lead. Olivia Shootin’ John for the Heartbreakers and Barbarella for the Hustlers would each score three points in the fourth jam of the bout giving the team in blue gingham a 10-3 advantage. The Hustlers would strike back in the fifth jam as rookie Acute Angel would score eight points giving the team in purple an 11- 10 lead.

The Heartbreakers would counter with two points by Friction VixXxen and five points by Olivia Shootin’ John to take the lead back in the next two jams. Mary Lou Threaten would close out the last scoring jam with a 2-1 advantage finalizing their 19-12 victory over the Hustlers. The Heartbreakers would also defeat the Hell Marys in the final 15-minute period of the night 31-7. For the three periods, Mary Lou Threaten lead the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers in scoring with 21 points. Olivia Shootin’ John scored 16 points, and Desi Cration added 11 points for the night. Top blockers for the Heartbreakers included Friction VixXxen, Belle Starr, and rookie Rita Menweep.

The Hustlers would finish third in the round robin, highlighted by a 26-18 victory over the Hell Marys. The team in red plaid would start off with a big ten-point jam by Bloody Mary, and the HM’s rookie The Angie Christ would score three points in the second jam to give the Hell Marys a 13-1 lead. The Hustlers would counter with their rookie Molotov M Pale scoring a 5-0 jam in the third jam. It would be the first of five consecutive shutout jams that would swing the game around for the team in purple. Acute Angel would score four points in the fifth jam, followed by five-point jam by Molotov M Pale to give the Hustlers the lead. Then all star blocker Curvette would take the jammer helmet, and flash speed and strength in scoring a back-breaking nine points for the Hustlers giving them a 26-13 lead. Rookie Virulent Viv would score five points for the Hell Marys to trim the Hustlers lead to 26-18, but that was as close as the HM’s would get with the score going final at 26-18 after a scoreless final jam.

For the three periods of action leading scorers for the Hustlers were rookies Acute Angel and Molotov M Pale with 12 points each. Curvette scored nine points to round out the top three scorers for the Hustlers. Top blockers for the Hustlers included Bullet Tooth Tracy, Lady Stardust, and Vanna Whitetrash.

While the Hell Marys were unable to score a victory on the evening, they still put out a solid effort, even though they were short a couple of skaters who will be back for their April bout. Top scorers included Bloody Mary with 16 points, and Lady X and Virulent Viv each with five points. Top blockers for the Hell Marys included Ryder Down, Solid Rock, and Muffin Tumble.

League action will begin in earnest on April 5th at Playland Skate Center as the Hotrod Honeys take on the Hell Marys and the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers will skate against the Hustlers in Austin.
