Official final score: Gotham Girls 187 – Bay Area Derby Girls 84.

We’re about to take a break to watch the Junior Derby expo bout, including junior derby skaters from Austin, Atlanta, and more! We’ll see you right back here for the next game, Bay Area vs. Windy City, at 2:30 PM central time.

Ivy Profane takes the jammer star for Bay Area against Suzy Hotrod in Jam 21 of period 2, who is standing in the penalty box. We only have 4 seconds left on the period clock and a full set of Bay Area blockers against a Gotham 3 wall on a knee in the front of the scrum. Bay Area takes a knee in the back corner of the jam line forcing Gotham to stand, and Bay Area holds the back wall as Suzy exits the box. They hold her long enough for Ivy Profane to pick up the lead jammer call, and she makes a full lap around to the pack as Suzy completes her non-scoring pass. Ivy picks up four and calls the jam for the final four points of the game, and the unofficial final is 187 Gotham – Bay Area 84.

Suzy Hotrod for Gotham starts jam 20 unopposed and nearly the entire back of the pack hits the floor. Suzy picks up lead jammer in turn 1 and Chantilly Mace comes out of the penalty box, but Suzy works some high knees around the outside and picks up a grand slam.  Chantilly goes to the floor and a physical pack also takes down Suzy Hotrod, with belle Right hooks sending her to the back. Suzy picks up a major low block and heads to the penalty box, and Chantilly Mace tries to plow through a solid front wall of Gotham blockers. She eventually runs them out in the front as BAD holds back two anteloped blockers and completes her non-scoring pass. She picks up a grand slam for BAD, and Chantilly Mace takes a block to the face courtesy of Fisti Cuffs, which will and her a minute in the penalty box. Score is now 187-80, Gotham.

Jam 19 sees Bonnie Thunders up against Chantilly Mace, and a major low block sends BAD pivot Liza Machete to the penalty box. Bonnie Thunders also heads to the box for a major high block, allowing Mace to pick up the lead jammer call. BAD’s pack grinds to a halt forming a vertical line along the outside track boundary, leaving Mace to try to push out the front wall of Gotham blockers. A 4th minor sends Chantilly Mace to the box for a minor track cut, springing Bonnie Thunders, and Bonnie wastes no time juking around BAD’s blockers to come back around for her first scoring pass. She picks up a quick grand slam, and Gotham holds the back wall and keeps the pack creeping, allowing Bonnie to pick up 5 more points as the whistle blows.

Suzy Hotrod makes her way out to jam in Jam 18 against Lulu Lockjaw for BAD, and Lulu plays some defense of her own in the pack, knocking Suzy to the outside. Suzy works some magic with her feet and manages to swipe the lead jammer call, and Lulu gets recycled to the back of the pack by OMG WTF. Suzy hops around the inside line and picks up a grand slam, reengaging the pack as Lulu struggles to complete her non-scoring pass. She meets up with a front 4-wall of BAD but pushes them out of play in the front and gets another grand slam. Lulu gets knocked to the ground by Sexy Slaydie and takes up residence in the back of the pack, and Suzy picks up another grand slam. Slaydie stays right on Lulu and knocks her to the ground, and Suzy picks up a final three points before the jam end taking the score to 169-71.

Nock Nock is up against Bonnie Thunders in Jam 17 of the game, but an official review is called. Bay Area wanted to know about a low block they believe should have been called on Bonnie Thunders in the last jam during the jammer on jammer scrap between turns 3 and 4. 8:15 left in the second half of the game. Upon official review, there is no low block penalty assessed and Bonnie will keep the jammer star on for Jam 17. Nock Nock makes a noble run up the inside line only to be brutally stopped by Gotham’s blockers, and Bonnie speeds around for lead jammer in her second consecutive jam in the jammer seat. Nock Nock makes it out as Bonnie picks up two points for Gotham and calls the jam.

In Jam 16 of period 2 Chantilly Mace faces off against Bonnie Thunders on the jam line and Suzy Hotrod picks up her intentional fourth minor for the third time this game. Chantilly Mace takes lead jammer with Bonnie right on her tail, and Bonnie heads around Mace after Mace takes her to the ground and picks up two points for Gotham. Mace makes an apex jump around the pack but too late to score. Score is now 149-71.

Jam 15 sees Lulu Lockjaw taking the line against Slambda Phage, who hits the floor in an attempt to wedge through the BAD wall. Lulu hits the front of the pack which contains a solid Gotham 3-wall and Slaybia Majora heads to the penalty box for BAD. Lulu makes it out for lead jammer and Slambda Phage heads to the penalty box for a cut track major, and BAD gets a much needed power jam. The pack crinds to a halt and Fisti Cuffs heads to the box for Gotham, leaving a 3-3 pack. Gotham is forced to release Lulu giving her a grand slam due to a no pack situation, and she reencounters that wall on her next pass and breaks free for another five points as the BAD blockers hold steady in the back. belle Right hooks comes up to bridge and help her jammer with some offense, and Slambda comes out of the box like a rocket and the jam is called as Lulu picks up another four points. Score is now 146-71.

Jam 14 gives us Claire D. Way jamming against Nock Nock for BAD and both teams are now back at full blocker strength. Nock Nock picks up lead jammer before turn 2 and reengages the pack just as Claire D. Way makes her way around Demanda Riot. Nock Nock picks up two points and encounters a front Gotham wall before being forced to call off the jam.

Gotham takes a team time out before Jam 13 of the second period, and Suzy Hotrod takes the jammer star against Chantilly Mace for BAD. Gotham blockers take a knee in front of the scrum, made up of Sexy Slaydie and OMG WTF, their compatriots in the penalty box. Chantilly tries to follow her blockers through the pack and successfully makes it out for lead jammer, hitting the back of the pack just as Suzy Hotrod makes it out for her scoring pass. She picks up a full four points, burns some time off the clock, and calls the jam. Score is now 146-55, Gotham.

Jam 12 of period 2 sees Slambda Phage jamming against Lulu Lockjaw for BAD. Phage heads straight for the inside line but encounters resistance from BAD, but she runs them out of play and makes it out first. Lulu Lockjaw picks up lead jammer though, as a result of Phage’s track cut minor, and immediately calls the jam.

Bay Area takes a knee for Jam 11 as Suzy Hotrod takes the jammer star against Nock Nock. Both jammers hit the floor in the back of the pack and Nock Nock picks up lead jammer for Bay Area. She gains almost a full lap on Suzy Hotrod and knocks down both blockers for BAD in the front wall to pick up 4 points before calling the jam.

Jam 10 sees Claire D. Way for Gotham against Chantilly Mace, and an all-standing pack near the jammer line gets things started off slowly. Demanda Riot for BAD keeps Claire toward the back allowing Mace to pick up the lead call, but Claire comes with and turns on the gas, meeting up with Chantilly Mace near turn 3. Mace makes a hit on Claire, forcing Claire to come in behind her, and both teams pick up four points. Mace skates slowly in front of Claire, burning some time and eventually allowing her to approach the pack before calling the jam, having allowed all boxed BAD blockers to reenter the track.

Bonnie Thunders is up against Ivy Profane in jam 9 of period 2, and Bonnie makes her own holes to pick up lead jammer as the rest of Gotham focuses on defense. Hela Skelter heads to the penalty box and Bonnie picks up a full four points and Ivy hits the pack, but Bonnie keeps the jam rolling despite Ivy being on her scoring pass. Sweet Sherry Pie takes out Bonnie’s last BAD resistance so Bonnie can pick up a full grand slam. Despite Dorato’s best efforts, she has a hard time helping Ivy past the Gotham 2-wall in the front and earns a major penalty. Bonnie picks up another grand slam and Ivy makes her way around, but the jam is called before BAD can score.

Jam 8 sees Suzy Hotrod breaks the pack first but a minor forearm doesn’t allow her the lead jammer call. Lulu Lockjaw breaks the pack and gets lead jammer, immediately calling the jam for 0-0.

In Jam 7 we have Chantilly Mace against Slambda Phage, and Phage takes the inside line as well as the lead jammer call. Chantilly Mace makes it out near turn 3 just in time for Phage to reengage the back of the pack, and OMG WTF heads to the box for Gotham for a forearm major. Both teams pick up 3 and the score comes to 132-43, Gotham.

Jam 6 – Hyper Lynx takes the jammer line for Gotham in her first jamming turn this weekend against BAD’s Ivy Profane and a super solid back Gotham wall roughs Ivy up. Slaybia Majora for BAD gets sent to the box, and a major track cut sends Hyper Lynx to the box before she can complete her non-scoring pass. This gives BAD a much needed power jam, and after some resistance from Ana Bollocks and Fisti Cuffs Ivy breaks the pack and picks up the lead jammer call. Ivy Profane picks up a track cut major and heads to the penalty box, springing Hyper Lynx and allowing her to complete her non-scoring pass. A stopped pack sees Lynx come around after 10 seconds, and belle RIGHT hooks and Dorato for BAD fight her but run out of play in the front, granting Lynx a grand slam for Gotham. Ivy comes out of the box and forces the jam to end.

In Jam 5 Bonnie Thunders jukes behind Nock Nock and Nock breaks the front Gotham wall to take lead jammer. Bonnie makes it out 3/4ths of a lap behind and Nock picks up 2 points before being forced to call off the jam.

Jam 4 sees Suzy Hotrod jamming against Chantilly Mace and Suzy squeeks up the inside of turn 1 to pick up lead jammer. She makes it around to the back of the pack just as Mace gets released by the front, and takes an assist to pick up four points before calling it off. Score is now 123-37, Gotham.

Bonnie Thunders heads back to the jam line against Lulu Lockjaw in Jam 3 of period 2 with no blockers in the box. Bonnie squeezes through a tiny hole toward the outside of turn 1 and picks up the lead call, and Lulu sneaks around Ana Bollocks and turns on the gas. Bonnie picks up 4 and calls the jam.

Jam 2 of period 2 sees Claire D. Way take the line against BAD’s Nock Nock, and both teams are back at full blocker strength. Claire fights her way forward but has some trouble with a back wall of BAD. Nock Nock picks up lead jammer but gets recycled backwards by a solid Gotham 3-wall, and eventually gets free to start her scoring pass. She picks up two points and hits the floor after a solid hit from Sexy Slaydie and calls the jam before Claire can reengage the pack.

Round two of Bay Area vs. Gotham is about to start, with Chantilly Mace facing off against Gotham’s Bonnie Thunders. Suzy Hotrod is starting in the box but standing, giving the pack even strength 3-3. The jam starts and Bay Area takes Bonnie to the outside, but she pops up and half a lap later picks up the lead jammer call. Mace makes it through and Bonnie picks up one point and calls the jam before Mace can score.

Score at the half: Gotham Girls lead Bay Area 114-35.

Jam 23 sees Bonnie Thunders up against Chantilly Mace and they exit the pack at almost the same time, but Mace gets the lead jammer call. Some jammer on jammer violence instigated by Bonnie Thunders sends both jammers to the ground, and it results in a 0-0 jam that brings us to halftime. Score at the half is 114-35 in favor of Gotham.

Slambda Phage takes the line for Gotham against Nock Nock in Jam 22, and Suzy Hotrod lines up on the jammer line to take her intentional fourth minor. Nock Nock flies through to pick up lead jammer for Bay Area and hits the back of the pack just as Phage exits. OMG WTF makes some serious attempts to take out Nock but Nock picks up a 4-0 jam against Gotham before calling.

In Jam 21 we see the effects of penalty trouble for both team as a 2-on-2 micropack tries to hold back jammers Bonnie Thunders and Lulu Lockjaw. Bonnie picks up lead but Lulu Lockjaw takes some help up the inside line from Demanda Riot to help her out, and she puts on the gas to try to catch Bonnie. The pack moves fast but the jammers eventually manage to catch it, and Bonnie picks up 4 to call the jam for what’s being called a “baby slam.”

Jam 20 sees Chantilly Mace facing off against Suzy Hotrod on the jam line and BAD’s short pack of two can’t hold Suzy back as she burns around for a grans lam as Mace still hasn’t broken the pack. Ana Bollocks sends Mace to the floor and Ana heads to the box for a major, but not before Suzy picks up a full grand slam. Gotham is left with two blockers who take the back of the pack, and Suzy calls the jam but Bay Area does manage to pick up four points on the last lap before the jam is called.

Jam 19 leaves us with 5:22 left in the first half and we have Bonnie Thunders taking the jammer line against Ivy Profane, but not before an official time out and some updates to the center penalty board. Bay Area requests an official review of the penalties assessed in the last jam. The penalties will stand, and Liza Machete will spend two minutes in the box for a major penalty while simultaneously picking up her fourth minor penalty. The whistle blows and the pack is off, with Bonnie picking up lead jammer immediately but Ivy is sprung from the pack. Bonnie taking a speed lap meets up with the pack and takes a hip assist from Hyper Lynx, and burns around the pack for a quick 4 before calling the jam.

In Jam 18 we see Claire D Way get knocked around by a rough Gotham front wall and Nock Nock heads to the penalty box as BAD’s jammer before completing her first pass. Claire comes around to score but the front wall proves to be some serious trouble, courtesy of BooYaYa! for Bay Area, but she breaks through and picks up two consecutive grand slams. Gotham, back at full pack strength, forms a back wall, and Claire works around the 2-skater short pack and jumps the apex for a crowd-pleasing grand slam, followed by one more due to the pack not moving. Nock Nock exits the box as Sweet Sherry Pie for Gotham heads to the box but doesn’t pick up any points, bringing the score to 96-27 Gotham. Official time out.

Jam 17 sees Bonnie Thunders for Gotham taking on LuLu Lockjaw as Gotham takes a time out. We’ve got a micropack on the floor in a 2-on-2 blocker situation, including Donna Matrix and Sexy Slaydie for Gotham and Slaybia Majora and Kid Ace for BAD. Gotham takes a knee and gets wide in the back, and BAD’s belle RIGHT hooks is standing in the penalty box with less than 10 seconds of her penalty left. Bonnie works some back and forth action between BAD’s blockers and breaks out for lead jammer and nearly meets the back of the fast pack BAD is running as the speed of the pack continues to build. The pack turns into a speed drill and a forearm major sends Bonnie Thunders to the penalty box giving Bay Area a much needed power jam and Lulu Lockjaw picks up two grand slams in a nearly stopped pack with only two Gotham blockers on the track. She uses the no pack situation to pick up another grand slam, and Donna Matrix exits the penalty box to help her two blockers keep Lulu in play. In an amazing display of agility Bonnie exits the penalty box and spins around the pack, picking up a final 4 points as the jam is called. Score is now 76-27, Gotham.

Jam 16 is held up by an official time out. Chantilly Mace takes the line against Slambda Phage, and Suzy Hotrod takes her intentional fourth minor behind the jammers. Teams are at even blocker strength at 3 per team, and Gotham takes a knee in back of the scrum. Suzy Hotrod, playing some “unofficial” defense, sets herself up in front of Chantilly Mace before the whistle blows and heads to the box. Chantilly breaks the pack but Slambda Phage earns the lead jammer call, picking up four points before Mace can meet up with the pack.

Bonnie Thunders takes the line against Ivy Profane for Jam 15 and Suzy Hotrod races onto the track but is waved off for too many Gotham blockers. Both teams are currently at full blocker strength and a very physical pack forces Bonnie to fight a full lap before eventually getting out of the pack, immediately after Ivy Profane picks up the lead jammer call and goes to the box for a major track cut. The pack nearly stops with Gotham holding the back, and Bonnie forces the BAD blockers up repeatedly to pick up three consecutive grand slams. Gotham’s four wall is nearly stopped in the back, and belle RIGHT hooks goes to the box for a major failure to reform the pack penalty as Bonnie picks up another grand slam. Ivy heads out of the box and back into the pack, but is unable to break through a rough Gotham wall and Bonnie picks up another four before the jam is called.

Nock Nock jams for Bay Area in Jam 14 against Suzy Hotrod, who gets forced to the inside line by Nock. Suzy heads straight for the outside line to push the BAD blockers forward and makes a quick cut to the inside and pulls out the lead jammer call. She encounters a full back wall of BAD blockers and picks up 2 points as Nock comes up and forces her to call the jam.

Jam 13 sees a full Gotham pack of Fisti Cuffs, OMG WTF, Hela Skelter, and Sexy Slaydie with Claire D. Way taking the jammer line. We’ve got 16 minutes left in the first period, and Chantilly Mace takes the jam line as Lulu Lockjaw poodles (takes her intentional fourth minor penalty to clear her for jamming). Demanda Riot, belle RIGHT hooks, and Brawllen Angel make up the standing pack for Bay Area. Despite a strong Gotham front wall, Mace picks up the lead jammer call and Claire comes out of the pack nearly a full lap behind. She comes up fast and BAD picks up two points and calls the jam.

Jam 12 sees Bonnie Thunders against Ivy Profane for BAD and Bonnie picks up the lead jam call as Ivy battles the middle of the pack. Ivy finally gets released as Bonnie gets her grand slam and calls off the jam. Bay Area takes a team time out as Gotham takes the track.

Both teams are back at full strength for jam 11 and we have Nock Nock for BAD jamming against Suzy Hotrod. The whistle sees some jammer on jammer violence as Suzy finds the outside line for a quick lead jammer call. Staying upright despite BAD’s shoulder hits, she works her way around the outside yet again for a grand slam with Nock Nock hot on her tail in a jam that looks identical to the previous jam. Suzy takes a quick jersey whip off Ana Bollocks in an attempt to pick up one point but the final  pass is 0-0, bringing the score to 37-6, Gotham.

Lulu Lockjaw goes against Bonnie Thunders in Jam 10 and Bonnie is once again out for lead jammer and hits the back of the pack while Lulu is still trapped behind Gotham blockers Hyper Lynx and Fisti Cuffs. She finally breaks the pack but not before Bonnie picks up a full grand slam with Lulu a quarter lap behind. Gotham blockers have the front of the pack and is keeping the speed fast with a full set of BAD blockers racing with. Bonnie jumps straight into the BAD wall and picks up three points before calling the jam.

In Jam 9 we have Slambda Phage on the jam line against Chantilly Mace. Phage forces her way up the inside line and due to a minor forearm does not pick up the lead jammer call. She makes her way around and Mace picks up lead jammer and calls it as Phage picks up two points.

Jam 8 has Bonnie Thunders up against Ivy Profane for BAD, and only two Bay Area blockers is a situation Bonnie makes quick work of as she breaks through for lead jammer AND a quick grand slam before Ivy breaks the pack. She gets a half-lap advantage on Ivy, picks up two more points and calls the jam.

Jam 7 sees Nock Nock up against Claire D. Way for Gotham, and Sexy Slaydie gives her some serious trouble but some fancy toestop footwork around the outside line allows her to pass to the front legally and earns her the lead jammer call. A last minute apex jump on the whistle gets Claire three points, bringing the score to 13-6, Gotham lead.

Suzy Hotrod takes the line for Gotham in Jam 6 against Lulu Lockjaw for Bay Area. Donna Matrix for Gotham keeps Lulu firmly in the back and Suzy tries to take a quick line first up the inside and then to the outside, eventually juking her way through to the front and getting the lead call. One blocker for each team heads to the box, keeping the teams at even blocker strength. Suzy picks up four points and paying close attention to her bench coach, calls the jam just as Lulu hits the pack.

Jam 5 sees Bonnie Thunders facing off against Chantilly Mace, and Mace picks up the lead jammer call but a stumble to the outside line forces her behind Bonnie and makes for a quick 0-0 call off before re-engaging the pack.

In Jam 4 we have Ivy Profane in her first jam of the game for Bay Area against Slambda Phage for Gotham. Gotham is already down to a 2-person short pack due to penalties against BAD’s fully stocked set. Ivy fights OMG WTF out in the front and gets released for lead jammer, but like the previous jams, Slambda gets out half a lap behind forcing the call off for a jam score of 3-1, BAD advantage.

Nock Nock takes the jammer line for Bay Area in Jam 3 and gets their first lead jammer call of the game against Bonnie Thunders for Gotham. Bonnie breaks out just as Bay Area takes the back of the pack to prepare for Nock Nock, and Nock picks up three for bay area bringing our score to 5-3 in Gotham’s favor.

In Jam 2 we have Suzy Hotrod facing off against BAD’s Lulu Lockjaw with both teams at full blocker strength, Gotham in the rear of the scrum. It might be noon but neither team is low energy, and the scrum holds tight all the way to turn 2 before Suzy Hotrod breaks the pack and picks up lead. Lulu breaks free half a lap behind and Suzy manages to pick up two to Lulu’s 0.

Jam 1 this morning sees Bonnie Thunders facing off on the jam line against Chantilly Mace for Bay area, and Bonnie breaks out for a quick lead jammer call. She hits the back of the pack just as Mace speeds around to score, and Bonnie picks up two points before calling the jam.
