Marital status: HELL YEAH. I’ve been Mrs. D.I.E since May 2008
Who is your favorite band/musician/group? Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kanye West
What is your most impressive derby injury? Hopefully, I’ll never have to answer this question.
Drink of choice at a bar? PBR Tall Boys
Hobbies? I play derby. It’s a lot of hobby
Other sports you have played? From ages 8 to 18, I swam and played basketball
What’s your most embarrassing derby moment? Having my name pronounced as Notorious Die at my first bout with Windy City…its D-I-E.
How did you get into derby? I saw some really tough looking girls sitting at a Pitchfork Music Festival booth in Chicago. I went over, didn’t even have the courage to talk to them but did grab a flyer. A week later I saw a poster and thought, “Ok, I was meant to see this.” My first bout was in August of 2007 and that’s how I got into derby.
Favorite food? burgers and tacos
Favorite roller derby player? Tons of players for various reasons, but I look up to Di Richmond from the Manic Attacker. She was a great teammate, hard worker and AMAZING blocker. I can only hope to be as good and insightful of a player as her one day.
What are you most thankful for in your life? My amazing husband, our two dogs (Wicket Fisticuffs & Gonzo Barkley), my family, my derby family…I’ve got some pretty stellar friends too.
How has roller derby impacted your life? Derby’s helped me to have more confidence in myself.
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? Checking expectation with reality; it takes a lot of hard work and you don’t get good over night. Derby is a continual process.
Would you like to brag about your skates? I’ve got Sure Grip Invader Plate with DA-45 trucks that I’m really excited to be skating on. Not to mention I’m a Heartless wheels girl. I love them. Narrow and light weight…I rock them.
Which one of your tattoos is most meaningful – what is it and why? After I got married I found giving up my maiden name was really hard. I have my maiden name, “Zehr,” across my left torso. It’s probably my pop’s (Notorious P.O.P) proudest moment.
Most memorable experience you’ve had with a fan: Signing a t-shirt for my grandma
