Years played else where: 8 with TXRD
Height: 5 little
Age: 29

Likes: roller skating with my friends, coffee, coaching derby

Dislikes: I do not dislike many things, but if I had to think of one it would be any action that goes against what is good for derby.

Occupation? Coach for both rowing and roller derby

Martial status? He hasn’t said yes yet

Are you a mom? No, but I love my mom!

Who is your favorite band/musician/group? The Little Bicycles

What is your most impressive derby injury? I broke my hand right before a game against the rail on the bank track in LA. I skated the game. My hand looked like it was attached to a dead person for three weeks. Is that more impressive than the black eye I had for six weeks? I got it from flying through the rail of the bank track while skating a game with TXRD. Fun times!

Drink of choice at a bar? IPA

Other sports you have played? I have rowed since I was 15. I rowed for both UT teams in college. Go Lady Longhorns!

What’s your most embarrassing derby moment? There are so many…there is not enough space on the Internet.

When did you start skating? How did you get into derby? I tried out in May of 2003 one night when I had nothing to do. I did it for my friend’s entertainment. I did not know there were two leagues in Austin, I had just heard about derby and was interested in what the ladies were doing. I ended up skating with the TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls’ Holy Rollers for nearly 8 years. I had a blast! Other than that I was a total rinkrat when I was a kid. Playland was my home rink and I spent many a weekend night speeding around the floor.

Favorite food? Coffee

Favorite roller derby player? Too many..my favorites should know who they are.

Who inspires you? Any woman doing what she wants.

Why did you pick your derby name? I wanted to throw things at people. I used to throw Smarties out during my intro. Fun times.

How has roller derby impacted your life? Joining derby is the smartest decision I have made as an adult.

What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? That I’m called a girl all the time but am actually a rollerwoman (it’s not really the hardest part, but one of the many aspects of being a female in sport).

First thing you do after a derby bout: Depends on the bout

Would you like to brag about your skates? I wear Antiks. They’re sweet. Be jealous.

You play several positions, which one is your favorite & why? I enjoy blocking because I feel like I have control over the jam. When I jam I enjoy the go, go, go aspect and thinking creatively. I recently started playing offense, which has been tons of fun. I love hitting ladies over and over, but then again I have a hard time taking my eye off of the opposing jammer.

Which one of your tattoos is your favorite – what is it and why? I have no tattoos. I thought it was a requirement to play derby, which is probably why I did not join for so long.

Most memorable experience you’ve had with a fan: I love gracious fans who appreciate the sport and respect what we are doing. I have met a few ladies who told me that I convinced them to play derby. That’s pretty rad.
