What’s your most embarrassing derby moment?
More funny than embarrassing: getting hit by somebody here at practice and hitting the floor so hard it burned a hole in my tights, right over my butt!

How did you get into derby?
I was shooting a show at CBGBs and two Gotham girls came up to recruit me.

Favorite food?
Cheese! I was vegan for eight years so I feel justified in all the catching up I am doing!

Favorite roller derby player?
Carebear Scare (Gotham)

Who inspires you?
My boyfriend. He is so creative and talented and executes it to the fullest. He is constantly working hard to promote his friends and his label’s music (he owns a record label). It’s amazing to watch all the hard work and then eventually see him enjoy the rewards.

What are you most thankful for in your life?
My parents. I would not (literally) be here without them. They pushed me in the right direction to be able to emigrate from South Africa and escape a politically war torn third world country. It’s very beautiful and I love it very much, but the country is so violent and so many people have lost loved ones to senseless crime. Anyway, I really thank my parents for all their hard work and help in getting me here. I definitely could not have done it without them.

How/why did you pick your derby name?
The girls in my old league, River City Rollergirls, gave it to me when we started. Essentially, my butt chose it for me.

How has roller derby impacted your life?
I needed to be back playing some sort of sport and I also needed an outlet for my aggression. It definitely has helped center and calm me.

What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl?
My feet hurt!!

First thing you do after a derby bout:
Shower..I get GROSS!

Which one of your tattoos is your favorite – what is it and why?
I have an outline of Africa with a heart over South Africa because that’s where my whole family is.

Most memorable experience you’ve had with a fan:
I love the little Derby Brats. One of my friend’s kids couldn’t pronounce Booty Queen so she ran around yelling “Booby Teen!” It was cute.
