Years with TXRG: I started announcing in 2004, and coaching in 2009.
Occupation? I’m an ER RN by night, and a stay at home father by day.
Martial status? I’m married to Desi Cration, who I fell in love with when I saw her launch Snot Rocket of the Kansas City Roller Warriors ten feet off the track in what is still the most amazing derby hit I’ve ever seen. That was in the 2006 Dust Devil. She and I have since brought our amazing son, Cash N’ Play aka The KoolCration Creation into the world.
Who is your favorite band? Public Enemy, Tool
What is your most impressive derby injury? I’ve had some wicked hangovers after some of the announcer roasts at the ECDX.
Drink of choice at a bar? Single malt. Neat.
Hobbies? Hiking with the Boy and the Dog. Playing guitar.
Other sports you have played? Track. Frisbee golf.
What’s your most embarrassing derby moment? I almost tattooed the Hydra onto my leg before heading to Portland for Champs in 2008. I was literally in the shop when I changed my mind. That’s as embarrassing a moment as I’m choosing to disclose at this time.
How did you get into derby? I’ve been friends with one of the original Texas Rollergirl announcers, Les Motormouth McGehee, for 20 years. In 2004, he said, “I can’t make the April bout. Want to cover for me?” I never looked back.
Favorite food? Bacon and bean breakfast tacos.
Favorite roller derby player? Desi Cration
What are you most thankful for in your life? My family, and my job.
How did you pick your derby name? I thought it would be hilarious to make a joke about a mass murdering preacher. I have subsequently reconsidered the wisdom of this choice.
How has roller derby impacted your life? How hasn’t it impacted my life? I’ve met my wife, had a son, traveled the world, made some amazing friends. Roller derby hasn’t impacted my life. It’s swallowed my life.
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? The time commitment. This is a full time job.
Which one of your tattoos is your favorite – what is it and why? I have a Koolaid Man tattoo that my sister did that is an adaption of a Koolaid Man that Desi and her mother designed and made into an amazing jacket for me.
