Occupation? I am an Insurance Referral/Authorizations/Billing/Collections with Austin Diagnostic Clinic.

Martial status? I’m married to Brandon “Mr Gorgeous” Benitez. We’ve been married for 6 years.

What do I do when I’m not kicking ass on the rink? I’m kicking ass on the street.

Who is your favorite musician? Conway Twitty and Johnny Cash.

What is your most impressive derby injury? None, that is how I roll!

Drink of choice at a bar? Black and Tan.

Hobbies? Antiquing. Walking with the dog. Hanging out and listening to music with my husband. And being rad.

Other sports you have played? Soccer, Softball, Speed Skating and Ice and Roller Hockey.

What’s your most embarrassing derby moment? Trying hit Devil Grrl and absolutely doing nothing to move her from the line.

When did you start skating? I began skating with my mother in speed skating when I was young. I then began skating hockey to allow some way out with my aggression. I quit skating while in high school due to a loss of passion and time. While entering a new area I found TXRG in February 2011 and began skating for the first time in many years with the Rec League.

Favorite food? Asian food! Yummmmmmie Sushi.

Favorite roller derby player? Kat A Killzem. She inspired me and gave me the inspiration and confidence to try out for the TXRG team.

Who inspires you? “The fact is that to do anything in the world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in and scramble through as well as we can.” -Robert Cushing. I live my life by these words with my husband’s support.
My husband, Brandon, inspired me to go beyond my personal fears of my past injuries and to try to push past my apprehensions. With his support EYERDAY I am able to stay confident and strong in my path in Roller Derby and in life. I would not be where I am (in life as well as in derby) without his inspiring thoughts.

What are you most thankful for in your life? My immediate and extended family members.

How did you pick your derby name? Thanks to Brandon and his clever ways….he helped come up with the final decision.

How has roller derby impacted your life? It has given me the freedom to meet new people as well as be involved in developing some amazing friendships.

What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? Trying to absorb all the information that the women have to offer.

First thing you do after a derby bout: I have not participated in the bouts (yet) but as a spectator I would support by going to the local bar that was the sponsor and grab a beer.

Would you like to brag about your skates? Well, they are oldies but goodies. I love them……even if they are a half size too small and the right toe stop is stripped out and has to be adjusted after each jam…..but I love them.

You play several positions, which one is your favorite & why? I am wanting to be a jammer, but have been absorbing the newness of being in the pack.

Which one of your tattoos is your favorite – what is it and why? The tattoos on my feet. They are of stars and the state of Texas. When I would go to my Papa’s house, as a kid, I would look at the stars with him and when I met Brandon we would go to the beach (in Santa Cruz California) and watch the waves and stars. No matter the time or place in my life I can always remember those moments by looking up.

Most memorable experience you’ve had with a fan: I have not had this luxury yet.
