“It ain’t about where I’ve been, but where I’m ‘bout to go”
Skater name: Me Shove You Long Time
Skater number: 2
Position: Blocker
Years played: ROOKIE
Birthday: 12/11
Occupation? I fundraise for a local educational non-profit organization.
Who is your favorite band/musician/group? Currently – Metric / Jay-Z / Adele / Lil Wayne
What is your most impressive derby injury? I’ve broken some bones…on other people.
Drink of choice at a bar? Vodka tonic with lime
Hobbies? Touring food trailers, convincing my boss to make our office dog friendly and persuading my friends to do bizarre things around Austin
What’s your most embarrassing derby moment? Cracking my friend and fellow skater, La Dolce Betah’s rib.
How did you get into derby? I’ve been skating since I was little, but I got into roller derby as part of my 30×30 list (basically, 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30)
Favorite food? Filipino food (lumpia, pancit, turon), breakfast tacos, bubble tea
Favorite roller derby player? Too many to list, but my team, the Hustlers, are all pretty bad ass.
Who inspires you? Sonny Felter and the Texas Speed Club, the skaters in Texas Rec–N-Roller Derby and the Texecutioners …basically anyone who skates fast, turns left and effs things up.
What are you most thankful for in your life? Family, friends and the sarcasm and wit of snarky celebrity bloggers (especially Michael K of Dlisted).
How/why did you pick your derby name? I wanted something ridiculous and Asian. My friend Soly is the brains (and beauty) behind my name while I’m the brawn.
How has roller derby impacted your life? Roller derby has impacted my life in the best way. Several times a week I get to rollerskate with some of the most amazing women I’ve ever met. How fun is my life?
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? Shoving everything derby and non-derby related into a 24 hour
period while explaining bruises / injuries / scratches / scrapes / limps to co-workers, potential donors and my mom.
Which one of your tattoos is your favorite? My horseshoe with the words Audentes fortuna juvat (Latin forfortune favors the bold) is my current favorite. It reminds me to always take risks as well as be present and active in whatever I do.
Most memorable experience you’ve had with a fan: TBD. Come find me after the first game of 2012 and let’s make that memorable experience together.
