“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Skater name: Cease Ann Desist
Position: Jammer, Blocker
Year started playing with TXRG: 2012
Other league info: Played for Naptown Roller Girls from 2010-2011
Birthday: January 12th
Occupation? Martial status? Are you a mom?
I am a Clinical counselor. Not married and don’t have trolls, I mean kids.
Other sports you have played?
I played soccer and ran track growing up.
What’s your most embarrassing derby moment?
In my first bout I tried to skate over a fallen skater. Needless to say I got stuck on top of her spread eagle.
When did you start skating?
I have been roller skating for as long as I have been able to walk. I was pigeon-toed as a kid and the doctor told my mom to put skates on me and that would solve the problem–it did!
Favorite roller derby player?
Dora the Destroyer
How/why did you pick your derby name?
Well a Cease and Desist is an order or request to halt an activity (cease) and not to take it up again later
(desist); or else face legal action. So it seemed like a good fit for a derby name.
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl?
The time commitment. Derby takes a lot of time away from friends, family, and significant others. The derby/ life balance can be hard, not to say it’s not worth it though!
First thing you do after a derby bout:
Umm, take out my tailbone protector.
Would you like to brag about your skates?
Sure! I love my skates, they are Riedell 965 Redlines mounted on PowerDyne Reactors plates. To me they are perfect!
