What is your most impressive derby injury?
My only serious injury so far is a completely torn PCL, torn meniscus and two bone chips that float around under my knee cap…probably because I waited five months to get an MRI.
Drink of choice at a bar?
Sailor and Seven
Other sports you have played?
Soccer, track, cross-country and swimming
What’s your most embarrassing derby moment?
When I got ejected in the last five minutes of the Kansas game at Regionals in 2010. It was a new move gone terribly wrong and appeared to be vindictive. Woe is me.
How did you get into derby?
I moved here from Ohio in 2004 to try out after my childhood friend Whiskey L’Amour told me about derby. I had heard she was in the hospital in Austin so I gave her a call. She told me she had suffered a compound fracture of her leg. When I asked how she said “playing roller derby.” My next question was, “how do I join?”
Favorite roller derby player?
How has roller derby impacted your life?
My sport has made me feel strong because of its athleticism and the sense of family and community that comes with it.
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl?
Finding the time to do it all. Skating is a part time job but so is working to support the league and raising funds to travel.
First thing you do after a derby bout:
Take a shower. I wish it was drink a beer but no one ever buys me one.
