Who is your favorite band/musician/group?
What is your most impressive derby injury?
A broken wrist
Drink of choice at a bar?
Jack and Seven
Pretending to be an angel.
When did you start skating? OR How did you get into derby?
I got into derby because it’s a mosh-pit on wheels!!
Favorite roller derby player?
What are you most thankful for in your life?
My family, roller derby
How/why did you pick your derby name?
I have a Devil tattoo on one arm and an Angel tattoo on the other, and have always said that I’m somewhere in between, so it only made sense. I spell Devlyn with a “y” in honor of my mom, who was Lynda.
How has roller derby impacted your life?
I always know what I’m doing Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and one Sunday or Saturday a month. The contact list on my cell phone is not the average list of boring names. No matter how hard I try, all conversations end up being about derby. I’ve met the coolest people on the planet and have a family thousands strong—even though I haven’t met all of them yet, I know they all have my back and I have theirs!
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl?
Fighting off the men
First thing you do after a derby bout:
After I take my skates off? Head to the after party!
Which one of your tattoos is your favorite – what is it and why?
I love them all, but the most meaningful is the one on my back. It’s a rollergirl/Phoenix combination, rising from the ashes. I feel that roller derby saved my life in some ways and I was reborn through it, in a sense.
