What do you do when you’re not kicking ass on the rink? When I’m not kicking ass at the rink, I can be found at one of my two jobs, with my dogs at the dog park or hiking at the greenbelt.
Who is your favorite band/musician/group? Michael Jackson. I had tickets to the London concert series and was super excited about getting to see him perform.
Drink of choice at a bar? Vodka/Red Bull
Hobbies? I like to play board games and was recently introduced (and subsequently addicted) to Settlers of Catan.
Other sports you have played? Swimming, handball, softball, rowing
How did you get into derby? After watching roller derby for a couple years, I decided that there was no reason I couldn’t be a rollergirl…the only problem was that I didn’t know how to skate. I found out about the recreational league and joined the primer in May 2010. I tried out for the Texas Rollergirls after my first rec-league session and now here I am!
How has roller derby impacted your life? It has pretty much taken over my life (but, in a good way)
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? Time management – Derby takes up a lot of my time so it’s hard to find enough time for my dogs, my pre-derby friends, two jobs and to keep up with daily necessities like cleaning, eating and sleeping.
Which one of your tattoos is your favorite – what is it and why? I only have one tattoo. It’s of Kokopelli–I got it for my grandmother after she passed away in 2009. She lived in Arizona for many years and enjoyed the artwork of the Native Americans of Southwestern United States, particularly Kokopelli. She was a big influence in my life as well as my siblings and cousins and I wanted to do something special in remembrance of her.
