What is your pre-game ritual? Eat whole-wheat pancakes with apples, listen to music that gets me fired up and focused.

What skates do you wear? A basic Riedell boot that I bought years ago off of a good friend and derby gal from my hometown, Annie Knuckles, who told me I had to play this sport.

What’s your favorite wheel brand? Jukes (Atom)

What is your favorite song to warm-up to? “Kick, Push,” Lupe Fiasco

What’s your favorite way to work out off-skates? Circuit training, yoga

The best piece of derby advice you’ve ever been given… My first derby mentor in Detroit, Holly Hitsville, told me when I first joined the league: “Keep your head down and skate”

The best piece of derby advice you’d like to give someone new… Roller derby is about more than bout day, the roar of the crowd, the flashy uniform, and the individual glory of a well-executed block or jam. It is about that day in the middle of the summer when it’s 105 degrees, you have sweat dripping in your eyes, and you and your teammates push each other to plow harder, skate another lap, finish the drill.

Who is your derby idol? Why? Fatal Femme, Tiny Ninja, and Roxanna Hardplace, three of my Detroit Derby Girls teammates who taught me the meaning of mental toughness.

What is the best derby bout you’ve ever watched? Why? I watched the 2013 WFTDA Championship game between TXRG and Gotham during my training period before being chosen as a TXRG premiere league skater…what an inspiring introduction to the talent and teamwork of my new league!
