What is your most impressive derby injury?
Oh such a long list but aside from the occasional injured knee, bruised ribs, concussion or broken tail bone I would have to say my most impressive is a broken arm. It was fractured in two places when a teammate slid into my arm during a bout in 2009.
I love to cook and read.
Other sports you have played?
I was a ballet dancer for 10 years and ran track.
How did you get into derby?
I started skating in 2007 when I showed up to Fresh Meat practice with the Dominion Derby Girls. I wasn’t a skater before but I knew I wanted to do this and was prepared to give it all I had be drafted to a team and play! Still at it 6 years later.
I love Mexican food – if there is a chip or salsa involved, count me in!
Favorite roller derby player?
My derby wife back home, T Rex Ya Face, # 65 B.C. – she rocks my world and makes my jaw drop every time I see her skate!
Who inspires you?
My team! I never want to let my jammers down, my fellow blockers down or my coach down. I lace up and give it 150% at every practice for the honor to a part of my team.
What are you most thankful for in your life?
My family, I wouldn’t have a thing if I didn’t have the love and support of my husband, kids and my parents.
How/why did you pick your derby name?
My husband named me for the loud mouth that I am and my fighting attitude.
How has roller derby impacted your life?
Roller Derby has become my life!
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl?
The dedication is the hardest part. Derby is ever evolving and you can never rest on what you could do yesterday, it’s all about what you are training to be able to do tomorrow. You have to be dedicated to being better and working harder…always.
First thing you do after a derby bout:
clean up and seek a tasty adult beverage
Would you like to brag about your skates?
I got new skates for this season after discovering that I had been skating in skates at least one size too big for the last 5 years. I bought Bonts with Avenger Magnesium plates and I love them…it’s a whole new world in skates that actually fit.
