Skater name: Yellow Die
Skater number: #5
Position: Blocker, Jammer
Year you started playing for TXRG: 2007
What is your most impressive derby injury? Just a broken leg, for good luck.
Drink of choice at a bar? Depends on the weather and how great I’m feeling, but cold days and mornings deserve a heavily dressed bloody mary and most days are Jack & Ginger – they are such a happy couple.
Hobbies? Just two or three for now…Roller derby, dragon/lion dance and my hubby.
Other sports you have played? Swimming is my go-to non-contact sport of choice!
What’s your most regretful derby moment? That I can never be mayor due to a Dances-off-Pant-off event (after playing Carolina Rollergirls). Awesome after-parties have their own consequences…but I’ll take it!
How did you get into derby? Bad relationship + stressful job = the need for a stress reliever + new friends + amazing relationships!
Favorite food? Vietnamese food! Mmmmmm!
Favorite roller derby player? Sparkle Plenty – she taught me to smile every time I give or take a hit.
What are you most thankful for in your life? My husband Rocky, my mama, my family, friends, my Honky Tonk Heartbreakers and the ability to skate again! I have an amazing support group!
How did you pick your derby name? Jacob Ambriz – an awesome friend who came up with this brilliant name! Thank goodness he convinced me to NOT be named “Happy Ending” – I would really have a hard time getting into politics then…or would I?
How has roller derby impacted your life? In more ways than I can explain. I am so happy when I skate, hit a b*tch and score points!
What’s the hardest part of being a rollergirl? Making time for anything else!
You play several positions, which one is your favorite & why? Blocker 1 is my most favorite right now. I love getting in the way.
