The best piece of derby advice you’ve ever been given…From a fan: Quit over thinking what you are doing. You’ve trained and worked hard. Let all that show, you have the endurance and muscle memory… Now go do it!
The best piece of derby advice you’d like to give someone new…Be patient with the process of learning and take in everything you can from every trainer. Some things will work for you and some things won’t. Everyone learns and plays differently, take the opportunity to gain knowledge and patiently figure out what works best for you, your mind, and your body.
Who is your derby idol? Why? Ron Scaremy of the Race City Rebels in Indianapolis, IN. My brother was a WFTDA coach and went on to play derby. My brother is my hero, someone I’ve looked up to my whole life. He’s an amazing person, an incredible skater, and an awesome human being. I want to be him when I grow up.
What is the best derby bout you’ve ever watched? Why?
The LA Derby Dolls vs Team Legit in Pheonix Arizona Battle of the Bank Championship in 2011. It was cool to watch the best banked track league play against some of the best flat track girls that had gotten together just for the tournament. I was still fairly new to derby and I gained a lot of knowledge from this game.
